Card games – there’s something special about them! It’s a great way to bring friends together with both strategy and luck involved. Some games call for more skill, while others rely more on luck, but playing cards undoubtedly offer great entertainment!
There are people who feel passionate about their cards. According to Insider, the world’s rarest and supposedly oldest full deck of cards is on show at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The hand-painted tarot deck hails from the mid-15th century Netherlands and is in amazing condition, suggesting the cards were hardly played. The deck was sold to a collector in the 1970s for $2,800, who spent about five years researching its history before selling them to the Met for $143,000!
At The Somerset, we have our very own Bridge & Canasta Card Club. It’s loads of fun and when you next visit us, pop in at The Lord Somerset Clubhouse and you’ll soon find out who played their trump card.
