In 2014 my wife and I decided to downsize from a large house with a big garden to a smaller compact well-equipped home. We felt it would be the right time for us to make the move before our health starts declining and the trauma of a big move would be too stressful. After various considerations we felt that a retirement village would suit our needs; primarily for security and health care reasons. Facilities such as a library, dining room, clubhouse, gym and a heated pool were also an added advantage.
We visited all the villages in the Somerset West area and our favourite one of them all was The Somerset Lifestyle & Retirement Village (which had been newly established in 2014.) The quality of workmanship and the flexibility of house-design were major attractions for us. We took into consideration that we were among the earliest residents that moved into the village and would have to live through the early construction phase. It was all worth it and we were pleased when a well-constructed house was expertly built for us; meeting our deadline that allowed for a smooth transition from our previous property. We moved into our Freehold home in December 2014. The Westacre staff sorted out the few snags that we encountered and dealt with it in a very professional manner. We enjoyed participating in the growth of the village – particularly when the beautiful new clubhouse was built.
The construction of the Care Centre has reassured us that our needs will be cared for in the future. We are eagerly awaiting the expanded clubhouse and the facilities associated with it.
Pictured here, the day we moved into The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village, the Managing Director – Dion Potgieter and Sales Consultant – Jane Martin, came to welcome us.
