In March 2014, while holidaying in Gordon’s Bay with our family from Australia, we visited the Somerset Mall in Somerset West. We came across an advertising display featuring a new estate – The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village. We were impressed with the presentation and immediately booked an appointment to see the estate, which back then only had 4 completed homes built and the rest were plots of mainly dusty ground & weeds. This made it very difficult when trying to imagine or choose a good position for a plot.
On our return to KwaZulu-Natal, we gave it a lot of thought and had to make the right decision – one more move must be the right move! We decided then and there that The Somerset would be the right choice for us in our retirement years in the Cape.
During the next few months and with much excitement, we went ahead with planning our new retirement home which was completed in record time. We moved into our new home early in December 2014.
We have been very happy here and have watched the estate mature and grow. The people are delightful and we have made some special friends. Our clubhouse is now a hive of activity! We enjoy many social events organised by residents and the catering is of a high standard.
We haven’t looked back since that eventful day which required us to sign on the dotted line.
