Care and wellbeing at The Somerset

Residents of The Somerset made dreams come true by planting seeds of hope at The House of Perez

St George’s Home for Girls, also known as the “House of Perez,” is a registered Child and Youth Care Centre dedicated to supporting girls aged 3 to 18 who have faced abuse, abandonment, neglect, or the loss of their parents. The facility also cares for children from failed foster placements, those dealing with behavioral challenges, and those affected by HIV/AIDS. Please visit the St George’s Home for Girls website to learn more about their incredible work.

Recently, two outstanding young women from St George’s Home for Girls, Cameren Klaasen and Kaylin Hofmeister, top matriculants and recipients of university bursaries, prepared to leave the place they’ve called home to embark on their bright futures. Seed of Hope was honoured to contribute to this milestone event. A heartfelt thank you goes to The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village for your generosity in making this day truly special.

Below is a note of gratitude from Melvyn Coorden, our Security Manager, and his wife, who are deeply involved in this remarkable outreach:

“The House of Perez Multi-Purpose Centre would like to thank The Somerset residents for your contribution in making the day a success for Cameren Klaasen and Kaylin Hofmeister, the two matriculants at St George’s Girls Home. This was a dream come true for these girls. They were so thrilled and couldn’t believe what had been done for them. Together, we made a dream come true. Thank you, and we deeply appreciate your support.”
