On March 9, 1911, International Women’s Day was honoured for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. More than one million women and men attended the rallies campaigning for women’s rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination.
Shining a spotlight on brilliant women across the globe, our very own Nursing Manager at The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village – Sister Erika Janutsch and her team, came to mind!
Kavita Ramdas, who was senior advisor to the Ford Foundation’s president, said: “We need women who are so strong they can be gentle, so educated, they can be humble, so fierce they can be compassionate, so passionate they can be rational, and so disciplined they can be free.”
At The Somerset Care Centre we have an exceptional, all-female team headed up by CPOA’s Sister Erica Janutsch for whom Kavita Ramdas’s quote is most apt. Sister Erica is passionate about her chosen path and does not consider it a job but rather a calling. Running a care centre is no easy task but her gentle strength shines through. Not only is Sister Erica an experienced nursing sister, constantly updating her skills, she is also humble in terms of her own needs. An excellent leader and well loved by her team, her compassion for her residents goes way beyond any job description. Erika is highly disciplined, running a tight ship while at the same time permitting enough freedom – resulting in a good balance for all.
We salute our specialist care team at The Somerset and know that our residents feel the same, even those who only have brief encounters with the care team.
The Somerset Care Centre is a brand new, purpose built facility in Somerset West, located within the prestigious Lifestyle and Retirement Village The Somerset. With a range of design features to support different levels of capability and disability we aim to ensure the overall wellbeing of residents.
