Care and wellbeing at The Somerset

The Somerset is a pet-friendly Lifestyle and Retirement Village

The French poet, journalist, and novelist – Anatole France, was quoted as saying: “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains un-awakened.”

The bond between people and their pets has been written about for many centuries and we know why. There is nothing like the unconditional love of an animal. Our pets are bundles of love wrapped up in fur.

So it is for Mrs Gwen Browne-Poole and her dog Diesel.

Every day, Gwen takes Diesel for walks at The Somerset and in Randloff Park in Somerset West, which is therapeutic for both of them. Gwen lost her husband in the first wave of COVID and Diesel gave her a reason to get up every morning and keep going. He is so much more than a dog to her.

At The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village we are a pet-friendly estate and we recognise the benefits an animal can bring to our lives. We welcome your furry friends.
