The late Italian operatic tenor – Luciano Pavarotti once said: “One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating”.

At The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village in Somerset West, this rings true for us! We enjoy eating and feel so passionate about eating good food that we have a Catering Panel that liaises with our Caterer – Western Province Caterers, to make sure that the meals provided, remain of a high standard. New ideas that could be implemented, is always a topic of discussion.
With the lifting of Covid restrictions, we are again able to use the dining facilities in the Clubhouse. We we would like to introduce you to some of the staff who provide our delicious meals and promotions. In the kitchen we have Chefs Solly, Ranofer & Brendon.

Amy is our Catering Manager who won the Western Province Caterer’s award of Ambassador of the Year 2020/2021 this year. Amy is also our pastry chef. Who hasn’t been tempted to more than one slice of her famous carrot cake and other delicacies from the cake table?

Antoinette is our Assistant Manager.

We have all experienced those days when the thought of cooking the daily meal feels like more trouble than it’s worth. For those occasions it is great to be able to dip into the freezer and use one of the freezer meals that was ordered from the kitchen. Cannelloni? Cottage pie? Not forgetting the lasagne and other offerings.
We also offer our residents an A la carte menu should they wish to pop in for a meal on a day when they haven’t pre-booked. The happy smiles and helpful attention of our serving staff, are always welcoming. They are Julian, Ruqayyah and Alicia.

At The Somerset we regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and seriously devote our attention to eating good food!
