A Winter Bazaar Fundraiser warms the hearts and homes for residents of Sir Lowry’s Pass Village

Residents and visitors gathered at the Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village clubhouse for a heartwarming Winter Bazaar Fundraiser.

The event was filled with the comforting flavours of traditional bazaar fare. Guests enjoyed a delicious spread including vetkoek with curried mince, boerewors rolls, hearty soup and fresh bread, pannekoek, koeksisters, and a delightful white elephant table.

We had our very own Pancake chef! Thank you, Douw, with the help of your assistants, your flipping technique, technical skills, and attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed!

Thanks to Nadia and her dedicated Feedem team, service was smooth and the food was simply scrumptious. The evening was made even more special by wine generously sponsored by Village Collaboration — a much-appreciated touch!

While the event raised much-needed funds for Seed of Hope, the real highlight was the overwhelming generosity shown by attendees. An incredible number of blankets, beanies, and warm clothing were donated, a true testament to the caring spirit of our residents. These gifts will help warm and comfort many in Sir Lowry’s Village this winter.

Thank you to our dear friend of Seed of Hope – Lillie, who has lovingly crocheted 12 beautiful,
top-quality blankets and many warm beanies. Her incredible contribution marks a special beginning
to our winter drive. Our mission is to build a mountain of blankets and warm clothing to help
make this winter a little warmer for Sir Lowry’s Village residents.

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team of ladies, here at The Somerset: Elaine, Linda, and Hester, led by Maddy’s tremendous drive, who made it all happen – we all felt your effort and enthusiasm. And to DJ Marco, thank you for keeping the evening lively with great music.
