Four years ago on the 29th of February, I moved to The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village. When I think back to that time, unpacking boxes and feeling strange and definitely out of place, I had very mixed feelings about The Somerset. Now it’s a totally different matter and I stand amazed, humbled and thankful that I have such caring neighbours.
Recently I was in a car accident and can not remember the accident at all. Returning from the hospital, it’s been great to meet everyone in the Clubhouse again. Thank you for your cards, visits, support and prayers. They helped pull me through after the accident. All I can do (belatedly) is to say a heartfelt genuine THANK YOU. In ‘n neutedop: Dankie vir die omgee en vriendskap, my deur staan altyd oop. Dankie 1,000 keer aan elkeen van my “The Somerset” bure.
This morning I returned to my home to discover the generosity of all my neighbours. Many presents had been left with my beloved in-laws. My welcoming tea was the first genuine surprise tea that I ever attended. My kitchen tea and stork tea were hardly a surprise at all but 10 days ago, bowled me over. This letter comes, somewhat overdue – to my special immediate neighbours, thank you for your presence. I value your love and kindness. Once I’m up and running, I want to pay you a visit (even if you live at the top of the slope). Everything of the best from a humbled thankful Linda.
