On the 2nd of May 2023, Professor Harold Herman – former Dean and Professor at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), visited us at The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village in Somerset West. At the library at the clubhouse, Prof Herman shared his extensive knowledge of the history and the development of towns in the Helderberg Basin since 1650.

Learning more about the roots of Somerset West and surrounding areas was enriching and informative. Afterward, a delicious spread of eats and refreshments was enjoyed by all.

Our library at the clubhouse has a range of good books and DVDs, donated by residents, and is managed by residents. The library area also serves as a well-equipped conference room which is available to all residents via a booking system with the village manager.
