When my wife – Lynne and I decided to relocate to a Retirement Village our first choice was not surprisingly, The Somerset Lifestyle and Retirement Village.
After we decided on a building plot, we were presented with a building plan for this stand. Lynne, who has a flair for design and lay-out, made numerous changes to accommodate our requirements and tastes and construction started. The final result was a home that we were very happy with and it is also the envy of many of our friends.
In February 2017 we moved into our new home, the construction of which certainly lived up to the reputation West Acre has earned as one of the top developers in the Helderberg basin. The house was finished at least two weeks prior to the promised hand-over date. All credit must go to Mario and his building team – his approach of hands-on management is commended! Also contrary to most building contracts, we were, and still are, friends with the developer and his staff.
We opted for the Life Right property option offered in partnership with the CPOA – for us this was the answer to trouble-free retirement. Arriving at The Somerset we found various facilities in operation. These included:
- A Club House
- Frail care
- Library
- Gym and
- A chapel.
Also, in operation was an active social programme under the leadership of the complex management. This is structured in such a way that the enthusiast can be kept busy, but those not that way inclined, can select what they want to partake in and for the rest to simply enjoy retirement living.
To anyone wanting to relocate to a retirement village my advice will be, that although you will no doubt find something cheaper, compare carefully what you get for your money, not only at the inception but also ongoing.
